Four years have passed since the first COMO Expansion Draft between Manhattan and Sunnyvale. None of the 16 players drafted that day are still with the Spiders or Slayers, but it served as a momentous occasion for both franchises: an opportunity to add veteran players for the first time.
Thursday afternoon, Hamburg BSV and Scranton got their chance to do the same. Hamburg GM Joe Buscaglia — running his own team for the first time after co-managing Duval United for three seasons — selected former Kansas City guard Klay Thompson with the No. 1 overall pick (his guaranteed contract is worth $15 million).
