After a salary cap snafu on Cut Day, the Hollywood Hornets have finally ironed out their budget for the 2015-2016 season. Hornets owner Aaron Nutting — who took over for Curt Clauss this summer — failed to shed enough salary two weekends ago, and was faced with the prospect of moving a big piece. That piece ended up being Hayward, who is owed $7 million this season. Minnesnowta is picking up the tab, at the price of a 2016 second-rounder* and a conditional 2017 second-rounder**. Hollywood — which fired coach Eddie Franklin (69-95 in two seasons) and hired Jimmy Chitwood on Tuesday — is now at $97 million in total salary, and must sign two players while staying at $100 million or less before the season begins. "These moves reflect a change in ownership philosophy," Nutting said. "Losing is no longer an option to current ownership, and poor player production will not be tolerated in Hollywood by players or coaches. Expect more changes as Hollywood moves forward." The Hornets lack depth, but their starting lineup — Goran Dragic (1), Jimmy Butler (2/3), Andrew Wiggins (2/3), Anthony Davis (4) and Al Jefferson (5) — will give opponents headaches. Minnesnowta solved its small forward problem and now stands at $75 million. Their projected starting lineup includes Kyrie Irving (injured) or Eric Bledsoe at point, Brandon Knight (2), Hayward (3), Mason Plumlee (4) and Rudy Gobert (5). There's plenty of room for mixing and matching at center, where Hassan Whiteside, Tyson Chandler and Alex Len will also get minutes. *Shorewood holds the rights to flip with both the Chill's 2016 and 2017 second-rounders. The flip will be based on Minnesnowta's finish in the standings — not Hollywood's.
**The 2017 condition: If Hayward is worth $13 million or more in 2016, Hollywood will own the rights to Minnesnowta's second-rounder in '17.
